Report for the Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society Board
by

Prepared by William R. Eubank & Russell Crump

July 31, 1999

Steady, positive growth, on a quarterly basis, from April 1996 to July 1999 is shown by the chart below. In general, a site is considered successful when it has 10,000 'hits' per month. That point was passed in October of 1997. The SFRH&MS is now approaching 50,000 'hits' per month.

There were 243 visits per day during July 1999. During the month visits were made by 3,233 unique IP addresses - which roughly equals that many different individuals. 7,560 discrete visits were made in July - meaning that visitors are coming back on a regular basis.

PROJECTION: Looking at the ratio between July 1997 / July 1998 and July of 1998 / July 1999, it is not unreasonable to expect accesses to top 100,000 accesses per month sometime in the next twelve months.

Plans that may accelerate this growth:

This site has added many materials unique to the history of the Santa Fe Railway. These include: Meades, The Splinters, Evaluation Photos, Junction Records, written and oral history reports, and audio files. The site is becoming a research destination.

Plans are being made to add approximately 1,500 PDF files of the Folio 211 Santa Fe 4 Freight Car Diagram book.

In general, there are less accesses in summer than in other times of the year - July is usually a low access month - who wants to be in using a computer when there are so many outdoor activities? Cooler weather and the starting of school in August marks the renewal of growth.
